After the final tournament starts, you can’t reentry once you get out.

Shawnn Lai

career	10 years
Biography	Since starting Djing in 1999, Shawnn has been dabbling in making his own tracks on and off. In 2002 he moved to Frankfurt to design for a record label, ELP. There he got the opportunity to play at U60311 and a few smaller clubs. He has to date played in Himeji – Osaka twice, Komatsu and Fukushima, mostly for BMX Flatland events which he is pretty much a part of. He also got an opportunity in 2006 to play at the beautiful Cirque d’hiver Bouglione, Paris for the Flatring – BMX Flatland Championships. Things started to get serious when he spent more time in his studio in 2007, producing tracks for his own enjoyment. His lucky break came when Plus Tokyo gave him the opportunity to release the tracks Toiger and Samsara.

DJ KOGATAROO

career	13 years
Biography	Raised in Machida, Tokyo. Since 1996 he has begun his career as a club DJ mainly in Tokyo and played as a regular DJ at most of the clubs, especially at CAVE and HARLEM which became the icon of the Tokyo club scene in the late 90′s. Currently, he’s mostly working as a DJ and making beats, and also doing a wide range of activities. With his dope groove, he puts beats together from any kind of music, no matter how old or new it is. His mix skills are not superficial. They respond to any dance floor flexibly and the inexhaustible “depth” created from his great record collection always heats up the floor with the absolute power of persuasion. While loving the radical culture of old school hip hop, he plays different genres of club music such as NU SKOOL BREAKS, HOUSE, DRUM’N'BASS, etc. for many clubs and events, and has a widespread reputation that he always sticks to B-Boy stance even with those variety of music. His mixtape series “LFTBB” and “KOGATAROO’S STOMP IN MY KITCHEN!” released between 2000 and 2004 brought new style to the conservative Japanese mixtape scene, attracted public attention and won rave reviews. This year, he starts by releasing CD version of 8th one in his “LFTBB” series, it is also scheduled to release 5 mixtapes from his own label “atimeinyourlife recordings”. Moreover, he is planning to release the album under the name of his own group “THE NUTCRACKERS” as well. He also has participated in a large number of international breakdance competitions as a BREAK DJ, such as Freestyle Session, Battle of the Year, UK B-Boy Championships, Mighty 4, Out For Fame ,RedBull BC1, BBoy Unit , etc. He is known as one of the biggest DJs in current Japanese breakdance scene, and has a original style which is different from any DJs in the world. His original style attracts people enthusiastically.
